Most businesses know what they do. Far fewer can explain why it matters, who it's for, and why anyone should care. That gap between what you offer and how the market understands it? That's where I live. And honestly, I love it there. I'm Nick Blandford, a fractional CMO and marketing consultant, and the founder of Blandford Creative. For more than 20 years, I've helped founders, CEOs, and leadership teams get clear on their story and build the marketing strategies to tell it well. My clients tend to have complex, technical, or mission-driven work, and they come to me when they're tired of being the best-kept secret in their market. I've led marketing across cleantech, sustainability, energy management, SaaS, professional services, and advanced technology. I've worked with multinational corporations and early-stage startups. I've built global campaigns and sat across kitchen tables helping someone articulate what they do for the very first time. I've done this work across North America, Europe, and Africa, with organizations ranging from Schneider Electric to venture-backed startups to mission-driven nonprofits trying to change how the world uses energy and invests capital. What I've learned, across all of it, is that the story is always the thing. Get the story right, and your positioning sharpens, your sales conversations get easier, your content finds traction, and your audience starts to lean in. Get it wrong, and even the best product struggles to find its people.

My approach is hands-on and direct, and I’m genuinely obsessed with finding the right words. I ask hard questions before I make recommendations, and I'll challenge your assumptions when I think they're costing you. I work closely with teams, not around them. I care about your business the way you do, and that tends to show. I studied Economics and Psychology at the University of Victoria, which, in hindsight, is exactly the right training for someone who spends their career figuring out why people buy things and how to talk to them about it. I later completed an MSc in Strategic Leadership towards Sustainability at Blekinge Institute of Technology in Sweden, where I deepened a conviction I'd already been building: that what a company stands for is inseparable from how it shows up in the market. I'm also an Executive in Residence at Foresight Canada, working with climate and cleantech companies at pivotal growth moments.
